Come join union activists from all over BC at Miners’ Memorial Weekend June 21 – 23 in Cumberland. Check out Songs of the Workers on Friday, June 21st. It’s a classic Pub Night with musicians from across BC sharing songs about life, death and everything in between. Pizza and drinks available. Saturday, there’s a Pancake Breakfast (by donation) hosted by BCGEU; guided Museum Tour at 9am and the graveside vigil
starting at the Japanese Canadian Cemetery at 11:00am.
The ceremony at the Cumberland Municipal Cemetery begins at 12pm and will feature speakers, music and laying of flowers. Informative talks and poetry readings round out the afternoon’s events. CUPE 556 is hosting a BBQ at Village Square from 5 – 7pm. And, TheatreWorks will be performing March of the Innocents and the history of child labour.
Sunday there’s a Book Launch and talk at the Cumberland Museum and another performance of March of the Innocents at
2pm.
